THE WOMAN you knew as Christy Carlo, co-anchor of WAVY’s No.1-rated early-morning newscast in the 1990s, left television two years ago to marry, give birth to twins and work on an invention she calls the Conception Curve Positioning Pillow.

It helped to make her pregnant.

Upon leaving WAVY in 2000 to become the news director and anchorwoman for the nationally syndicated “Imus in the Morning” radio show, also simulcast on MSNBC television, she dropped the fictitious “Carlo” for her family name, Musumeci.

Early in her broadcast career, she had decided Carlo would go down a lot easier than Musumeci with the viewers in Fort Smith, Ark., where she anchored the KHBS early-morning telecast.

(At KHBS, she crossed paths with Sharyn Alfonsi, who for almost two years in the 1990s covered the military for WVEC.

They worked the weekend local newscast, with Musumeci anchoring and Alfonsi on weather. Alfonsi
